About Us

Eric was raised in Monroe Louisiana amongst his brothers and sisters by his parents James and Florida Welch Porter. Eric was exposed to entrepreneurship at an early age as both his mother and father parents were entrepreneurs. One was a farmer and the other one was a neighborhood landlord/land owner. Eric was fascinated about the possibility of attending Southern University while in middle and high school until that came about in 1977. Eric majored in Business Management and graduated one semester early in the fall of 1980. He was recruited by AT&T Corporation, who then was headquartered in New Jersey and worked for them for 22 years where he held various middle and senior level sales positions. Eric Porter is the chief executive officer of ComNet, LLC which he founded in 1998. In 2005, after a long corporate career, Eric embarked upon a new phase of his life; entrepreneurship. ComNet acquired Regional Broad Band of Lafayette, Louisiana. 

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, ComNet and the acquired start-up company blew its projections off the charts. In 2006, ComNet, expanded and diversified to the field of construction, construction management and project management services. With the many years of corporate training and corporate protocol mannerism, Eric utilized those skills to provide a niche by providing his expertise and human capital skills to his clients and has garnered the respect from his peers and competitors. 

Awards and Certifications:

Eric Porter is the recipient of the ‘Judges Award’ for the Best Practice Initiative at the 2018 Annual Summit of the University Economic Development Association, in Milwaukee Wisconsin. He is the founder of the program “Creating Neighborhood Developers” and cofounder of “Creating Sustainable Neighborhood Developers’ program. - Eric Porter hold a BS from Southern University, Fall 1980 - Post Graduate at the University of Missouri, Kansas City Mo, 1987 - Post Graduate work at Louisiana State University, Fall 1982 - Second Place Business of the Year, Louisiana Small Business Development Center - Housing Quality Standards Certification – Housing and Urban Development 

Family and Life:

Deacon and Secretary of the Deacon Board, Greater Mt. Carmel Baptist Church - Father of three, Grandfather of three - Recording Secretary, The Bonanza Social Club, founded by successful black men in Baton Rouge in 1947.
